At the Golden Gate Club in San Francisco, that meant making room for portraits while leaving space for everything happening around them. My attention was on their families, the interactions between people, and the moments that couldn’t be planned.
Two days later, we met in Yosemite for a separate portrait session. Without a reception to get back to, we had time to explore, work with the landscape, and make photographs that were different from anything we could have created on their wedding day.
When Claire saw the gallery, she wrote:
“I’ve heard people say that their pictures let them relive their weddings, and that was so true for me, especially the ones with my grandparents and of me and my dad sharing happy tears.”
About Yosemite, she added:
“Thank you so much for offering the session and suggesting Yosemite. Never would have imagined in my wildest dream that we could have photos like these.”
That’s what I wanted these photographs to give them. The people and moments they wanted to remember, alongside portraits we had the time and freedom to create together.
